I work mainly in the Samlesbury, Mellor and Blackburn areas providing coaching and training
for drivers of all ages and abilities.
For example the youngest drivers who have off-road training can be from around 14 years of age upwards and the oldest; well there really is no upper limit to the age of drivers that I may be asked to provide training for!
For company drivers we look at the level of road risk which they put themselves and other road users under and then work to reduce that risk to the lowest possible level.
For older drivers in their 70’s a refresher course may be just the thing to give them that little extra confidence and make sure that they are still driving safely. Some older drivers even have several sessions during the year which makes them and their families feel less at risk.
The length of a lesson or training period can be from one hour upwards through to around two or three hours. However, the problem with driving for too long even with suitable breaks is the loss of concentration which occurs and this means that the driver may not get value for money from the training.
Teaching people to drive and helping them to improve their driving skills is very rewarding work. I work for Lancashire County Council on driver training courses such as Speed Awareness, Driver Alertness and Fleet Driver Training etc.
